CULTURAL INFLUENCE

The Faith Community has Limited Cultural Influence

The faith community of Greater New York has limited cultural influence in sectors such as media, finance, education and politics.  Our research among Christian financial industry leaders in Manhattan indicates that 2/3 of those surveyed are not actively integrating their faith with their vocation.  The NYCLC seeks to gather Christ's followers for fellowship, encouragement and engagement in exercising their faith and influence in every sector of society.

An Engaged Leader

Priyan Fernando, American Express - Downtown Manhattan

Priyan first met Mac Pier, president of The New York City Leadership Center, at a gathering of the Christian employee group at American Express.  He was impressed with the mission of the Center to help leaders increase their effectiveness in bringing about spiritual and social transformation in Greater New York.  "The Leadership Center is about changing culture," explains Priyan.  "If we are to have an impact, then we have to be socially relevant.  Our impact is not just within New York City, but it will be felt around the world."

Exponential Impact: Priyan is utilizing his business expertise as a member of The NYCLC Board of Directors.  He is an example of an engaged marketplace leader who is applying his unique giftedness on behalf of thousands of leaders across the region.
